ASCII and Binary transfer mode

Auto-Detect is the recommended data transfer mode. In Auto-Detect mode, you can specify a list of file types that should be transferred in ASCII mode. The unmatched files will be transferred in Binary mode.
Binary mode will sent the file to the server as it is. For most non-text files, such as images, data, they should be transferred in this mode.
ASCII mode sends files and their corresponding line endings according to the server's operating system. Different operating systems have different line endings, and CrossFTP will send proper text line ending according to the server's operating system.

How to:
  • Site's transfer mode can be selected by Site Manager -> Options -> Transfer Mode.
  • Global transfer mode can be selected by Tools -> Global Options -> Transfer -> Transfer Mode.
  • Specify the list of file extensions for the ASCII mode: Tools -> Filters -> ASCII.
  • Server's operating system can be selected by Site Manager -> Options -> Server Type. If Auto-Detect is chosen for Server Type, unix system is firstly assumed.
  • If the server's line ending is same/different  from the server type, you can specify the server's line ending by Site Manager -> Options -> Server end-of-line to specify it.
